Easily identified by their bright red heads or annoying behavior, woodpeckers will destroy parts of houses if not dealt with. The sound can echo very loudly, and plenty of relaxing Saturday mornings have been spoiled by these guys. Trying to ignore it and go back to sleep is a feat only accomplished by deaf people. Sometimes they are drilling for food, sometimes to claim territory and sometimes just because.
They seem to enjoy performing satanic rituals with another woodpecker in the distance. As a part of these rituals, they will drum back and forth on metal objects such as a gutter or lamppost for an extended period of time. If you were up close to little fellas, you could probably see a pentagram in their eyes.
